Feedback

We just got some lovely feeback from a school about Wee Fairy Tales:

"Our P1 and 2 children recently attended the TAG performance 'Wee Fairy Tales' in Paisley Town Hall. I just wanted to let you know how much the staff and children enjoyed the performance. Every staff member made a point of coming to see me to tell me how fabulous the show had been and the children couldn't wait to tell me all about it. I just wanted to let you know that we appreciated the opportunity to come and that the show was a huge success with both staff and children."
Great to get some feedback!

Wee Fairy Tales - back home

We are welcoming the Wee Fairy Tales company back home to the Citizens' today, for a week of performances, starting at 2pm today. The first few days of this week coincide with the Glasgow half term break, so we are looking forward to seeing lots of families. The last half of the week (before the weekend) is packed out with school and nursery groups. So far nearly 1700 people have enjoyed the stories of The Three Wee Pigs, Cinderella, Rumplestiltskin, The Billy Goats Gruff and Wee Reid Riding Hood.

There are more public performance later this month at the Catstrand in Castle Douglas and The Byre Theatre in St Andrews. Pop along if you can.

Wee Fairy Tales photos

The Wee Fairy Tales tour kicked off this week, with a trip to Campbletown. Our intrepid cast have been crossing the country taking this brilliant show to schools and venues. We have just received some photos:All photos by Tim Morozzo. You can see more on Flickr.

I've been busy making the programme for the show and was sent a lovely wee note from Jude, one of our cast, which I was unfortunately not able to squeeze in. Talking about herself, she said:

"An’, great Scots, she’s affy proud tae be pert o’ the team wit’ brocht “Wee Fairy Tales” tae the stage".

This Scots malarky clearly gets under your skin! I aim to be fluent by the end of the tour. Tickets for the Citizens' shows are selling well. You can call 0141 429 0022 to book or click Wee Fairy Tales to book online.

Sometimes it's great to have my job!

I have just had the pleasure of sitting in on a run of Wee Fairy Tales - TAG's first production of 2008, directed by Jeremy Raison. This showed premiered in 2007 for a short trial run and due to its success has been remounted this year for a full week at the Citizens' and a tour.

I've seen many photographers working on productions and I definitely think it's a good sign when they start to laugh and enjoy the show. It's absolutely brilliant. As a Northern Irish person I wondered if I'd have any difficulty understanding some of the Scots, but it's amazing how much of it we (...even I) use in every day life.It makes the highly recognisable stories so much funnier...genius.

The three performers Steven Rae, Billy Mack and Judith Williams, who all starred in The Bevellers at the Citizens' last year, are all terrific. What a brilliant way to start your day!

Wee Fairy Tales - available for 2008

TAG's next exciting tour will be Wee Fairy Tales, a brilliant re-telling of lots of favourite fairy tales and nursery rhymes told in traditional Scots language. This play will be the first which Jeremy Raison has directed under the TAG banner.

Jeremy and his talented cast devised this show last year, based on the book by Matthew Fitt and James Robertson. It was such a hit that it's being brought back for lots more people to enjoy. Our age recommendation is for 3-8 years, although I know for a fact that lots of Citz staff saw it last year and loved it...and they're just a year or two older!
Anyway, the show will at the Citz (details to follow) and will be touring from 28 Jan - 8 Mar. There are still some tour slots available for schools and venues to book. I have just added an up-dated promoters' pack to our website, you can check it out on our Promoters' page.

Braw.
