Dalbeattie Design Visit

Sorry this has taken me a wee while to post. A few weeks back, the girls who are taking part in our Theatre Design Course (run by Anna Cocciadiferro) at Dalbeattie High School got the chance to come and visit the Citizens Theatre.

As well as getting to see a performance of Don Juan, they got well and truly behind the scenes and were allowed to rummage around in our fantastic costume store...a privilege reserved for very special people! Elaine, from wardrobe gave the group a brilliant talk and tour from concept drawings and production to the actual dressing rooms for Don Juan, where the costumes are finally in use.

Here's a quick video of some of the photos from the day.

Animal Farm videos online

To coincide with the special screening of the Animal Farm animation and our documentary in Dumfries, we have been able to upload the documentary in three parts to YouTube.

To see this in it's full uninterrupted and high resolution glory, go to the Robert Burns Centre Film Theatre in Dumfries on 23 September 2008. If you can't make it along that night, here's a quick look at part 1:

You can views parts 2 and 3 on TAG's YouTube Channel. Let us know what you think, especially if you were one of the many Dalbeattie High School students who took part!

If you fancy joining acting or play writing classes in Dalbeattie, check out this post.

Animal Farm screening

On Tuesday 23 September, CREATE will host a special Animal Farm themed evening at the Robert Burns Centre Film Theatre in Dumfries. The classic 1954 animated film, will be preceded by a special screening of a short documentary about our staged production at Dalbeattie High School in December 2007. The evening will also feature a discussion about this production.

ANIMAL FARM (u) A celebrated animation based on the classic satirical novel ‘Animal Farm’ by George Orwell. The film is a political fable, telling the story of Farmer Jones’ animals who wage a revolution, overthrow their brutal master and take over the farm, only to discover their idealism betrayed by power and corruption.

Animal Farm tickets on sale

TAG is currently working with Dalbeattie High School and the Birchvale Players, producing a school play - Animal Farm. TAG first worked with these groups in Dalbeattie a couple of years ago, on a similar collaboration for The Visit. This project builds on that experience.
We currently have a team of theatre professionals working with students and teachers. Our team, who are enthusiastically working their way up and down the M74 includes Guy Hollands (Director), Elly Goodman (Assistant Dir), Moley Campbell (Designer), Andrew Coulton (Production Manager), Matilda Brown (Composer), Anna Cocciadiferro (Costumier), Stephen Robinson (Documenter) and Helen Black (ok me!...Marketer).

ANIMAL FARM at Dalbeattie High School
Wed 12, Thu 13 and Fri 14 December 2007
7.30pm, £3.50/£2.50 conc.

Students are working hard in all aspects of the production and I'm delighted to announce that tickets went on sale this week in school and in Bryan Gowans' shop on High Street, Dalbeattie - for members of the public.
