Scottish Theatre Archive

I spent most of yesterday buried deep in the Special Collections Department of Glasgow University Library. The 12th floor houses the Scottish Theatre Archive which is currently home to about 200 boxes/files of TAG's historical information. This is, as yet uncatalogued, but Donella Stirling (a firm friend of TAG/Citizens') and myself were granted access to the bowels of the store room to trawl through our papers.

Our work formed the next stage of a mammoth hunt for the names of all the people who have worked for TAG in the past - which we are gathering in advance of our 40th birthday party at the end of August.

The only problem was uncovering too many distracting and interesting stories and photos. I think a few more trips will be on the cards.

A blast from the past

Back in the day...
TAG was performing to an audience of children "known to Social Work". The Social Worker said, "Did you enjoy it?" Teenager replies "Aw it was shite!" Social Worker persists, "But was it good shite or bad shite?" Teenager thinks for a bit, and responds, "Well, I suppose it was no bad, fur shite!" Social Worker turns round and says to me "She really enjoyed it."

This brilliant anecdote was sent to us by someone who has worked with TAG over the years.
TAG is 40 years old this year and to celebrate this we are trying to trace all the people who have worked with us since 1967…this is a rather daunting task, to say the least. If you worked for TAG, please send an email here, telling us your name, postal address, email, telephone and details of your time with TAG.

Reminiscences welcomed!
